Bishop Diego’s rally fell short as the Cardinals softball team lost a 7-6 decision against Santa Barbara High on Wednesday

Andrea Gonzalez earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Santa Barbara. The fireballer allowed five hits and one run over four innings, while striking out one and walking zero.  Liliana Navarro threw three innings in relief.

Down 7-2, Bishop Diego scored three runs in the sixth inning to pull within two runs.  Sophie Benoit, Yvette Rosales and Lily Simolon drove in the runs. The Cardinals added a run in the seventh.

Simolon and Lucy Plowman each had two hits for Bishop Diego, which totaled eight hits.

Santa Barbara collected 12 hits, with Amanda Holguin going 3 for 4 with two doubles and Alyssa Perez going 2-3,
