A Santa Barbara man has been identified as the driver killed in a head-on collision in the Santa Ynez Valley on Friday.
At approximately 9:15 a.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol, American Medical Response and CalStar were dispatched to the scene near the intersection of Highway 246 (Mission Drive) and Alamo Pintado Road, fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said.
The collision involved a Ford work truck and a Ford sedan.
The sedan’s driver, Antonio Ramirez Jr., 42, of Santa Barbara was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP Officer Keith Rogers said Monday morning.
The Ford F-350 truck driver, Steve Holmlund, 62, of Santa Ynez, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Rogers added.
The Ford C-Max sedan crossed into the path of the truck for unknown reasons, Rogers said.
Investigators were trying to determine whether alcohol may have played a factor in the collision, Rogers added.
No further details were available.
