Illness, high winds and Buena couldn’t stop the red-hot Santa Barbara High boys soccer team on Tuesday night.

The Dons improved their unbeaten record to 7-0-1 with a 3-0 over the Bulldogs in windy Ventura.

Coach Todd Heil said the wind was blowing 30 mph and “we had quite a few players out sick tonight.”

Cason Goodman got Santa Barbara on the board, rising above everyone to head in a cross from Miguel Alvarado.

Sophomore Will Dunaway scored his first varsity goal to make it 2-0. He beat two defenders inside the 18-yard box and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper.

“It was a great individual effort,” said Heil.

Senior Juan Carlos Torres capped the scoring with a spectacular diving header of a service from Diego Jaramillo.

“Juan Carlos was able to lay out and get his head on the cross and redirect the ball inside the front post of the goal,” said Heil.

The Dons head to the South Torrance Tournament on Friday and open against Lawndale.
