He’s a local kid who has become a polarizing elected official.

In this podcast, Das Williams, First District Santa Barbara County supervisor, opens up about housing, the county budget, his critics, Coastal Commission defeat, Meagan Harmon, the Santa Barbara mayor’s race, and much more.

“I, like most Santa Barbarans, don’t want every building to be really tall,” Williams says. “But if you don’t like 60-foot buildings, then you don’t like the Arlington, the Granada, and the Canary. Our best are over the four-story height limit.”

Williams was first elected to the Santa Barbara City Council at the age of 29. He has served in the California Assembly, and now on the Board of Supervisors. Watch the Williams video excerpt below and then check out the entire interview.
