Controversial developer Ed St. George talks about Paseo Nuevo, recent Santa Barbara City Hall controversies, politics, and the upcoming election in the latest edition of Santa Barbara Talks.

“I’d love to see 1,000 units, minimum, 1,000 units, going in there,” St. George said. “Can it happen? Of course it can happen. We have some great architects in town who can deal with that.”

St. George, who owns hundreds of properties in Santa Barbara and Isla Vista, also talks about his friendship with Rob Dayton, Santa Barbara’s transportation chief, who is out on a paid leave of absence after filing a complaint alleging religious discrimination at City Hall.

And St. George dives deep into his views on the City Council election in November, including whom he supports, and the politics of City Hall as City Administrator Paul Casey gets ready to leave.

The developer also explains how he is moving his focus from Santa Barbara to Solvang, where he has proposed a hotel, and plans to make his permanent residence.
