The Santa Barbara High girls lacrosse team opened its season by winning the Division 3 title at the Gold Coast Invitational on Saturday at Peabody Stadium.

Elenor Mangone scored the game-winning goal with three seconds left in a 10-9 decision over Riverside Poly, and the Dons followed with a 9-3 win against Hart to claim the title.

“We came together as a whole team, put it all out there and fought for ever possession,” said coach Elayne Blessing. “We had so many positives that it is hard to narrow in on just one player.”

Mangone scored four goals, Daisy Foreman had three and Eva Larrson added two against Riverside Poly.

Larrson put away four goals to lead Santa Barbara over Hart.

Goalie Olivia Fernandez turned in a solid performances in both games. She stopped 82% of the shots she faced against Hart.

“We had so many great things happen and players like Maddie Oblander and Daisy Foreman, who led on ground balls and assists, made us do great things,” said Blessing.
