The Santa Barbara High doubles team of Charlotte Ryan and Koko Kelly advanced through three rounds at the CIF-SS girls tennis indvidual regionals at Cate School on Monday.

Ryan/Kelly, the No. 13 seed, received a first-round bye and then beat Rio Mesa’s No. 1 team 6-0, 6-4. In the final round, the Dons’ duo defeated Campbell Hall, 6-3, 6-2.

Ryan/Kelly advance to the final 32 teams in the section tournament.

“The final match of the day was a bit of a rematch because, as freshmen, Charlotte and Koko got to this same round and lost to one of the same opponents today from Campbell Hall,” said coach Danny Echt. “Today, they played solidly with focus and resolve off the ground and knocked down some key volleys and overheads to take victory.

“Charlotte and Koko have had a fabulous season together,” added Echt. “Their chemistry is beautiful and they have grown as players this season.  It is an honor that they get to represent Santa Barbara High and Channel League next week at Whittier Narrows among the top 32 teams in Southern Section.”
