Lizzie Goss, a member of Santa Barbara High’s Channel League championship girls golf team, finished as runner-up in the qualifying round for the Ventura County Junior Golf Association’s 45th annual Titleist Match Play Championships at Buenaventura Golf Course.

Goss shot a 1-over par 71 (36-35) to earn the No. 2 seed in the girls championship division.  Lindsay Yao of Whittier was the top qualifier after shooting a 1-under 69 on Tuesday.

Goss is going into her senior year at SBHS.

Her Santa Barbara teammate, Aoife Braverman, shot a 90 and finished in 12th place.

On the boys side, Leo Metzger of San Marcos shot a 2-over and 72 to finish in a tie for seventh place in the championship division and qualify for match play. Callaway Winans of Solvang had a 73 to put him as the No. 12 seed and Hudson Hatton of 
Santa Barbara fired a 77 for the 22nd seed in the match play competition.

Santa Barbara’s Jeffrey Forster shot an 83 and tied for 10th in the 11-14 age group. The cut to advance was 79.
