Hundreds of bowls and dozens of soups set the stage for the 21st annual Santa Maria Empty Bowls event’s return on Wednesday.
With three seatings offered, hungry supporters showed up at the Santa Maria Fairpark for the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County fundraiser.
Assorted gourmet soups were served up in hand-crafted bowls along with water and bread.
The traditional Santa Maria Empty Bowls had not taken place as an in-person event in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.
Earlier this year, the Lompoc Empty Bowls returned during the summer, instead of its traditional spring date.
The Foodbank’s third Empty Bowls fundraiser will occur from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Foodbank’s Santa Barbara warehouse, 4554 Hollister Ave.

The Santa Barbara Empty Bowls will mark its 25th event this year.
Parking will be available at Lot 3 for San Marcos High School with shuttles taking attendees to the event.
Warehouse tours, raffle drawings and a pottery marketplace also are planned.
Tickets, with four seating times, can be purchased online by clicking here.
