Santa Maria police were investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday night in the northeast part of the city.
At about 7:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of La Salle Drive and Columbus Drive after receiving reports of a shooting, according to Sgt. Andy Magallon.
They found evidence of a shooting at the scene, but no victims, Magallon said.
A short time later, investigators were alerted that a shooting victim had been transported by private vehicle to Marian Regional Medical Center.
The adult victim, whose name was not released, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, Magallon said, and was reported in stable condition.
