Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday night after a shooting in north Santa Maria, according to Santa Maria police.
At approximately 6:25 p.m., police and Santa Maria firefighters were dispatched to the area of East Jewel and Vine streets for a report of a shooting, Sgt. Matthew Kline said.
The two victims were taken to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of gunshot wounds, he added.
Detectives were dispatched to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
