
The Santa Barbara Blues Society will present award-winning saxophonist and singer Vanessa Collier in her first Santa Barbara appearance, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at Carrillo Recreation Center, 100 E. Carrillo St.
A native Texan, Collier grew up in Maryland and graduated from Boston’s Berklee School of Music. For two years she was part of the band of blues legend Joe Louis Walker.
Collier has released a half dozen albums and toured extensively. She has been nominated by the Blues Foundation for 11 Blues Music awards and has won four for Contemporary Female Blues Artist of the Year, and three, including in 2025, for Horn Player of the Year.
Doors open at 7 p.m.; advance ticket purchasers will be allowed in at 6:45 p.m. Collier and her band will play two sets.
The venue has an outdoor patio and a large, spring-loaded dance floor.
