Master event planner and organizer Robin Elander, who is the executive director of Santa Barbara’s Summer Solstice Celebration, is offering scholarships for an eight-week online class in special event management that runs Aug. 27-Oct. 18.

“This is a perfect course for aspiring or seasoned event professionals or project managers anywhere in the world that would like to connect and learn how to put on a successful event of any size,” Elander said.

The event- and project-planning course will be conducted online through a private Facebook group shared with participants after they register. Those seeking a scholarship for the course should contact Elander at globalgoodimpact@gmail.com.

Elander is founder and director of Global Good Impact and has more than 20 years of experience planning large scale special events and projects, and programs of all types, including fundraisers, parades, fairs, festivals, corporate events, summits, retreats, conferences and campaigns across the country.

Course modules and the material will be shared in the group at 10 a.m. each Tuesday. Students can take the course at their own pace and pop into the group to ask questions and access material at any time during the week.

Course material will stay in the group and will be available to the students year-round even after the course is over.

“Participants can network and troubleshoot the program with the instructor and other program participants and accountability buddies, share upcoming events and projects at any time during and after the program,” Elander said.

“This will be a safe space to ask questions, empower each other to do amazing things and have fun in a lively, supportive learning environment.” she said.

Topics include: Why plan an event? How to build a budget. Putting together a team of staff, volunteers and contractors. How to generate income through grants, sponsorships, ticket sales vendor fees and other means.

The course also will cover: contracts, insurance, marketing, permits, equipment, technology, planning environmentally friendly event, pot-event team celebrations, and evaluations.

Participants will have access to two hours of one-on-one troubleshooting or planning support calls with Elander during the course of the program. Templates for press releases, budgeting and timeline will be available.

The course can be purchased for a one-time payment of $1,249 by registering at https://app.moonclerk.com/pay/15luhwl5lbri or for 10 monthly payments of $125 by registering at https://app.moonclerk.com/pay/xegdzfwdp11.
