Sebastian Alvarez celebrated his return to the Santa Barbara High boys soccer lineup by scoring two goals in a 4-1 Channel League win at Santa Ynez on Saturday.
Sidelined for a month, Alvarez scored in the 24th minute, taking a low cross from Rockwood Foster and calmly tucking it away. He scored again six minutes later, finishing a cross from Eli Myers.
“We are glad to have Seba back on the team after being out for a month,” said coach Ricardo Alcaraz. “He played with a lot of determination inside the box.”
Alcaraz praised the play of Damian Dorado, Juan Torres, and Jesus Miranda who were called up from Junior Varsity.
“These guys came in and gave us a solid game. They helped us give some of our players rest and get healthy.”
Lucca Peluffo scored one minute into the second half off of a steal by Benjamin Hashim at the top of the 18-yard box. Hashim set up Peluffo, who rifled a shot past the Santa Ynez goalkeeper.
Brendan Mcnulty finished the scoring 54th minute on a penalty kick.
Leonel Valencia scored for Santa Ynez.
The Dons, who improve to 6-1 in league, play host to San Marcos on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
