Former UCSB swimmer Kristof Igloi won the Semana Nautica Henzell & Mullen 2-mile ocean swim on Saturday at East Beach.

Igloi, 35, who swims for the Santa Barbara Masters, finished in 38 minutes, 22 seconds. Randy Eikhoff, 57, was a close second in 38:59, and Ben Tucker, 40, finished third in 41:16.

Results

The women’s winner was 17-year-old Amelie Ogilby of Colorado in 41:25. Darlene Krohn of Santa Barbara was second in 45:07 and former MIT swimmer Nicole O’Keefe was third in 46:25.

Sixty-five swimmers completed the distance, including Santa Barbara’s 80-year-old Vic Birtalan in 1 hour, 15 minutes, 23 seconds.

5-MILE BIATHLON

Edward Sweeney, 42, won the Semana Nautica 5-mile biatlon (4-mile run, 1-mile swim) in 41 minutes, 10 seconds. San Marcos High and SBCC aquatics coach Chuckie Roth, 48, came in second place in 44:56 and Jon Clark, 63 and a multi-time champion of this event, was third in 45:26.

Chrissy Faulding, 35, was the women’s champion in 50:15, followed by Maureen Macdonald (50:43) and Whitney Bruice (51:02).

5K BEACH RUN

12-year-old Siena Smith captured the 5-kilometer beach run in 24:48.
