The St; Francis of Mountain View girls volleyball team arrived in Santa Barbara with an undefeated record and remained unbeaten after winning the Santa Barbara High Tournament of Champions on Saturday.

The Lancers improved to 18-0 with a win against second-seeded San Clemente in the title match.  They are the No. 1-ranked team in the CIF Central Coast Section.

Santa Barbara, which lost to San Clemente in the semifinals, fell to Newport Harbor in the third-place match. Both opponents are ranked in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1-2 poll while the Dons are sixth in Division 4.

San Marcos defeated Rancho Solano of Arizona for the 11th place, while Bishop Diego was beaten by Ventura in the 13th-place match.

“Overall, this was a really tough test for us at this point in our season,” said Bishop coach Dillan Bennett. “We’re pretty banged up right now, and I walk away from this experience happy for the players who got extended playing time this weekend against stiff competition.\

Rounding out the tournament placings, Clovis North finished fifth, following by Valencia (6th), Buena (7th) Buchanan (8th), Hart (9th), Newbury Park (10th), Rancho Solano (12th) and Ventura (13th).
