Santa Barbara professional surfer Lakey Peterson won the World Surfing League’s Margaret River Pro in Australia on Tuesday.

Peterson defeated Brazil’s Tatiana Weston-Webb in the final.

She knocked off Hawai’i’s Carissa Moore in the semifinals, 15.97 to 15.80. and upset seven-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore of Australia in the quarterfinals. In that quarterfinal, she scored the highest heat total of the World Championship season at 18.83.

It’s Peterson’s fourth title in her career and her first at Margaret River in Western Australia. She finished second in the World Championship Tour rankings last year.
