A 39-year of man was arrested on suspicion of arson early Sunday following a string of fires in the city, according to the Lompoc Police Department.
Shortly after midnight, firefighters were called to multiple deliberately set fires in the northeast area of the city, and police responded to assist with the search for a suspect.
The arsonist had set a vehicle, a backyard shed and several dumpsters on fire, police said.
The incidents occurred on the 300 block of North 2nd St., the 900 block of East Oak Avenue, and the 1400 block of the East Lemon Avenue/North Avenue alley.
Officers contacted Ismael Zaragoza Chavez in the area, and found evidence that indicated he was responsible for starting the blazes, police said.
He was arrested and booked into the Lompoc Jail.
