Santa Ynez starter Tate Minus pitched a complete game as the Pirates defeated Bishop Diego in a non-league baseball game on Tuesday.

Minus recorded six strikeouts, didn’t allow a walk and gave up five hits.

Caleb Cassidy drove in three RBI and scored a run to lead the offense. Dylan Peters had a double.

Santa Ynez is 2-1 overall and Bishop Diego is 1-1.

Simi Valley 8, Santa Barbara 3

The Dons struggled in the field and gave up seven unearned runs in an 8-3 loss against Simi Valley in the final game of the Easton Tournament at Eddie Mathews Field.

Simi Valley scored five runs in the first inning. Santa Barbara cut the deficit to three before the Pioneers tacked on three more runs.

Zeke Adderley went 2-3 and Jetner Welch and Liam Keithley hit doubles for the Dons.

“Eric Anthony pitched better than his line shows,” said coach Steve Schuck.

The Dons are 1-4.

Westlake 4, Dos Pueblos 3

Kyle Spink “started on the mound and pitched a brilliant five innings,” said DP coach George Hedricks.

Spink struck out seven and allowed one walk in the Easton Tournament game.
Joe Talarico had a two-run double to start a late rally. Ryder Kendall, Alexander Hajda, Dylan Gesswein, Luke Varesio and Jesse DiMaggio all added hits for the Chargers, who went 0-5 in the tournament.
