A 14-year-old boy riding a bicycle was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle in Lompoc, according to the Lompoc Police Department.
At approximately 3:15 p.m , personnel from the Police and Fire departments responded to the incident on the 200 block of West North Avenue, Sgt. Bryan Dillard told Noozhawk.
The boy ran away from the crash scene, but was located approximately a block away, Dillard said.
A Calstar medical helicopter landed at the Lompoc Airport to transport the boy to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation by Lompoc police, Dillard added.
