Caltrans will close the Toro Creek Bridge for the next two weeks during the daytime hours beginning Dec. 9.

The closures will take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The bridge will be open on weekends and during the overnight hours.

State Route 192 will be closed from Ortega Ridge Road to Toro Canyon Road during the closures.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route.

Caltrans will complete work on widening the bridge, paving, installing bicycle railing and crash cushions.

The bridge was one of six along State Route 192 damaged in the Montecito debris flow in January 2018.

The Arroyo Paredon Creek Bridge was completed in May, the Romero Canyon and Toro Canyon Bridges were opened in January, and the San Ysidro Creek Bridge was completed in April. The Montecito Creek Bridge was re-opened in November.

The contractor for five of the bridges, at a cost of $20 million, was Security Paving Co. of Sylmar. Lash Construction of Santa Barbara was the contractor for the $10 million replacement of the Arroyo Paredon Bridge.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
