Bishop Diego won its second straight boys basketball game, beating Moorpark 60-55 in its Brick House Gym opener on Thursday night.
Tyler Williams recorded a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, and had the tough defensive assignment of guarding Moorpark star Samson Hall, who finished with 31 points.
“Ty has been our calming force out there,” said Bishop coach James Coronado. “And I really love our two guards, Brian Lopez and Bryan Trejo. They have been doing all the little things to help us win games, things that don’t necessarily show up in the box score. But as a coach, we know we don’t win without there contributions.”
Kai Morphy scored 18 points for the Cardinals, including some clutch free throws to seal the victory.
“We just made a couple of key plays down the stretch, and they ran out of time,” said Coronado of the difference in the game.
