Ila Lane scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and UCSB played solid defense in beating Loyola Marymount, 64-49, to improve to 5-1 on the season. It’s the program’s best start since 1988 when the Gauchos won their first eight games.

Lane shot 7 for 9 from the floor and added two steals and a blocked shot. Alexis Tucker scored 14 points.

Alyssa Marin was the catalyst on defense. She had a team-high four steals.

The Gauchos held LMU to a shooting percentage of 30.2

The Gauchos will be back in The Thunderdome on Saturday to take on 15th-ranked UCLA at 7 p.m. The game marks the return of former UCSB standout Cori Close, who is the coach of the Bruins.

UCSB is planning a “White Out” at the Thunderdome and encourages all Gaucho fans to wear white for the game.
