Ajay Mitchell, a 6-foot-3 point guard from Belgium, announced his commitment to play college basketball at UCSB.
Mitchell played as an amateur in the top professional basketball league in Belgium. He also played on the country’s Under-18 team at the European Championships last year. He averaged 11.5 points and 3.6 assists in eight games.
He raised eyebrows at the NBA Academy Games in Atlanta last July. He averaged 9.5 points and shot 64.3 percent for the World Select Red team.
Ajay’s father, Barry Mitchell, played pro basketball in Belgium and won a league championship and a pair of Belgian Cup titles.
