The UCSB women suffered their second loss in the last three matches, dropping a 3-1 Big West decision at Long Beach State, 25-20, 25-17, 13-25, 25-19.
With the loss, the Gauchos drop to 13-3 in conference play, further behind leader Hawaii at 14-1. Hawaii has won six straight since losing to the Gauchos on Oct. 22, and UCSB is 4-2 since that match.
Long Beach State is 6-10 in Big West play.
Freshman outside hitter Michelle Ohwobete led UCSB with 12 kills on a .345 percentage. Sophomore libero Macall Peed had 16 digs, and junior setter Mehana Ma’a had 20 assists for the Gauchos.
UCSB hosts UC Davis on Friday, starting at 6 p.m., and then UC Riverside on Saturday with a 7 p.m. start.
