The UC Santa Barbara women’s basketball team has added two National Letter of Intent (NLI) signees set to join the team in the 2020-21 season, head coach Bonnie Henrickson announced on Wednesday.
Guards Alyssa Marin, of Camarillo High School, and Anya Choice, of Santa Rosa-Cardinal Newman High, will bring their sharpshooting and playmaking abilities to UCSB beginning next season.
“Our Gaucho family is thrilled to add Alyssa Marin and Anya Choice,” said head coach Bonnie Henrickson.
Marin is a 5- 9 guard that averaged 18.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game in her junior season.
She holds the record for most three-pointers made in a single season at Camarillo High. She was the Ventura County Player of the Year, and Ventura County Star Player of the Year and earned a selection to the CIF-SS Division I First Team in the 2018-2019 season.
Choice is a 5-8 combo guard that averaged 22.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.3 steals per game in her junior year.
She was the 2019 North Bay League MVP and San Francisco Chronicle North Bay Player of the Year. Choice earned All-State honors each of the past two seasons, and made the All-Metro team in both years as well.
