A vehicle went off Highway 166 on Saturday, sparking a lengthy search for the reported wreckage that was located about an hour later.
Shortly after 5 p.m., callers reported to emergency dispatchers that a vehicle ended up on its rooftop off the roadway about 20 miles east of Highway 101, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch reports.
Callers warned that the vehicle wasn’t visible from the roadway.
After an hourlong search by crews on the ground, a CalStar helicopter flying above the wreckage helped pinpoint the site of the vehicle.
As crews searched for the wreckage, law enforcement officers were sent to Marian Regional Medical Center for a report of a patient who arrived by private vehicle and might have been involved in the crash on Highway 166.
CHP officers were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident occurred in Cal Fire jurisdiction, but crews from other agencies responded to assist.
