A motorcycle and vehicle were involved in a collision on northbound Highway 101 in Summerland Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol

The crash was reported around 8:55 a.m., and the left lane of the highway was closed for about an hour afterward.

As of 10 a.m., traffic was congested in the area of the Evans Avenue exit, and cars were backed up all the way to Carpinteria, according to Caltrans District 5 and SigAlert.

Information on injuries was not immediately available.

According to a CHP incident report, the motorcycle rider landed between construction barriers following the crash.

There are construction zones for the Highway 101 widening project from Summerland to Carpinteria, including concrete barriers along the lanes.

After these phases are completed, adding a third lane in each direction, the Montecito and Santa Barbara portions of the project are next.
