SUMMARY:UCSB Wind Ensemble & UCSB Choirs Concert
DESCRIPTION:The UCSB Wind Ensemble will present With Heart and Voice in collaboration with the UCSB Chamber Choir on Thursday\, May 29\, 2025\, at 7:30 PM in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall. \n\n\nFresh from a six concert tour of the New England area\, the UCSB Chamber Choir will collaborate with the Wind Ensemble on several featured works. Central to the program is the Pulitzer Prize-winning composition Partita for 8 Voices by Caroline Shaw. In this arrangement for combined ensembles by Kaitlin Bove\, Shaw’s original a cappella vocal score is reimagined with the full forces of the Wind Ensemble\, showcasing a dynamic fusion of extended vocal and instrumental techniques.\n\n\nThe two ensembles will also unite for Ēriks Ešenvalds’ Trinity Te Deum\, a radiant work featuring lush choral harmonies\, brass fanfares\, and organ interludes.\n\n\nAdditional highlights include Frank Ticheli’s jazz-inspired Blue Shades for wind ensemble\, and his evocative choral work Earth Song. The program also features John Williams’ rousing Summon the Heroes\, written for the 100th Anniversary of the Modern Olympic Games.\n\n \n\n\nThe concert concludes with the title piece\, David R. Gillingham’s With Heart and Voice\, a powerful and quintessential work for wind ensemble that brings the full ensemble together in a vibrant and emotional finale.\n\n\nThe UCSB Wind Ensemble is led by Andy Radford.
