A fight involving several people in downtown Santa Barbara sent one person to the hospital Tuesday night, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
At about 9 p.m., police dispatchers received a report from a resident of several people fighting on the 400 block of East Victoria Street, said Anthony Wagner, a police spokesman.
Officers who converged on the scene learned that a male subject had headed westbound on Victoria Street to a residence, where he was found with serious injuries, Wagner said.
The victim was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
His name was not released, and details on his condition were not available.
As of 10:15 p.m., no suspects were in custody, Wagner said.
Nearly a dozen officer remained on scene late Tuesday night investigating the incident, which as described as an assault with a deadly weapon.
There were reports that the victim had been stabbed, but that could not be confirmed.
Wagner said it was not yet known whether the incident was gang-related.
