A Wind Advisory was issued for the Santa Barbara County South Coast Friday night as the National Weather Service warned of gusts up to 50 mph.

The advisory includes Santa Barbara, Montecito, Carpinteria, San Marcos Pass, and the San Rafael and Dick Smith wilderness areas, and is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday.

“Northwest to north winds 20 mph to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph through and below the Santa Ynez Range” are expected, according to the advisory, with the strongest winds expected west of Refugio.

Strong and gusty winds can make driving difficult, especially on Highway 101 near Gaviota Pass and Highway 154 on San Marcos Pass, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunny, warm weather is expected over the weekend on the South Coast, with temperature highs in the low-80s.

It will be warmer in the Santa Ynez Valley, with daily highs closer to 90, and cooler in the Lompoc and Santa Maria Valleys, with temperatures in the 70s Saturday and Sunday.
