Freshman Georgia Wilson made an impact on the mound and at the plate for the Dos Pueblos softball team in an 11-1 non-league win over visiting Righetti on Monday.
Wilson went the distance on the mound, allowing five hits and an unearned run, and didn’t issue a walk. With the bat, she was 4-for-4, with two doubles.
Bella Nuno and Mia Reveles, both sophomores, each went 3-for-3. Nuno had a double and drove in three runs, while Reveles had a triple and a double.
The Chargers (1-1) collected 15 hits.
“The young kids really came to play today, didn’t they.” said coach Mike Gerken. “We are not very senior dominant this year so it’s great to see the underclassmen have such a positive impact.
“We did a fantastic job on the bases today. Mia and Leila Chisholm got great reads and were able to steal a couple of bases. Nuno also took third on a delayed steal.”
Righetti scored a run in the first, but DP responded with two in the bottom of the inning. The Chargers added three runs in the third and fourth innings, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.
