Two vehicles were destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon at a parking garage in downtown Santa Barbara, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 12:30 p.m. to Lot 7 on the 1100 block of Anacapa Street, Battalion Chief Cory Cloud told Noozhawk.

The vehicles were on the top level of the garage and were engulfed in flames when crews arrived, Cloud said.

He added that firefighters were able to quickly douse the flames in the two light SUVs — a Toyota RAV4 and a Subaru.

A large column of black smoke from the fire was visible throughout the downtown area.

Investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
