One person injured early Wednesday in a vehicle fire in southwest Lompoc was transported to a Santa Maria hospital, according to the Lompoc Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 6:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle fire on the 600 block of West Ocean Avenue.

One patient was flown via Calstar medical helicopter to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation, Lompoc firefighters said.

The flames spread to a pair of adjacent vehicles, but crews knocked down the blaze before it could damage a nearby business.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
