A man was found dead Tuesday night in a homeless encampment in Old Town Goleta, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 7:15 p.m. to the encampment near Magnolia Avenue and the railroad tracks, said Raquel Zick, sheriff’s public information officer.

“The death was not suspicious, but we won’t be able to determine cause of death until after toxicology tests,” Zick told Noozhawk.

The sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau identified the deceased as Isaac John Whitehurst, 37, of Santa Barbara.

Zick said it was unknown if he lived at the encampment or elsewhere.
