Four people were injured Sunday evening in a multi-vehicle crash that closed Highway 154 for a time.

Just before 6 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and American Medical Response were dispatched to a crash on Highway 154 near Lakeview Drive.

Firefighters on scene reported one person had to be extricated from the wreckage near the entrance to Camp Whittier. 

One person received critical injuries while two others had moderate injuries, according to emergency dispatch traffic.

A fourth patient had minor injuries due to the crash that reportedly involved four to five vehicles.

The circumstances that led to the crash were being investigated by CHP officers based in Buellton.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 154 were closed while emergency crews were at the scene. The highway was fully reopened by 7:30 p.m.
