Goleta City Council meeting times are moving to 5:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1, with closed session at 4 p.m. Meetings will remain on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Previously, council meetings were held at 1:30 and 6 p.m., with closed session following the afternoon session.
The city is hopeful a start time after normal business hours will allow more people to attend and participate in City Council meetings.
“Later City Council meeting start times open the door for more people to actively participate in local government,” said Mayor Paula Perotte. “In addition, this change provides an opportunity for more people to run for and serve on Goleta’s City Council.”
