A woman crossing the street near the Calle Real Shopping Center in Goleta was seriously injured Thursday night when she was struck by a vehicle, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies and other emergency personnel responded to the incident shortly after 8:45 p.m. on the 5700 block of Calle Real, said Raquel Zick, a sheriff’s public information officer.
“It appears that the pedestrian was in a crosswalk when she was hit,” Zick said.
The woman was transported by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and was expected to recover, according to Zick.
Her name and details on her condition were not available.
The driver of the full-size Chevrolet truck was cooperative, Zick said.
“He admitted to consuming some alcohol and was evaluated at the scene,” Zick said. “It was determined he was not under the influence, and was well under the legal limit for blood-alcohol content.”
The driver was released from the scene, according to Zick.
No additional details were provided.
Authorities have not released the driver’s name because the investigation is ongoing, Zick told Noozhawk on Friday.
