One805, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting first responders, emergency preparedness and response, announced on Monday the purchase of 45 electric decontamination foggers to serve all Fire, Police and Sheriff departments across Santa Barbara County. The equipment will also serve the Santa Barbara County Jail.
The Hudson brand foggers, which have already been distributed, can quickly and efficiently disperse sanitizing mist to large areas and will be applied to jail cells, vehicles, equipment, and fire/police stations. The One805 Advisory Council, comprised of the head of each of the 11 departments, identified the equipment as critical in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As we have experience in this community, preparedness and response can come in many forms,” said One805 CEO and co-founder Eric Philips. “We are proud that this community rallied quickly around our frontline personnel. This equipment will protect our community and the first responders who cannot work from home.”
One805 was the first organization to create a local Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) drive in coordination with the Office of Emergency Services. Their office remains open with a monitored, secure drop box as One805 continues to collect lifesaving equipment for Santa Barbara County’s doctors, nurses, hospital staff and other first responders.
Just prior to the COVID-19 emergency, One805 launched an Emergency Twitter Program as a public service emergency preparedness and response communication tool. The Twitter feed consolidates relevant information from the police, fire, sheriff and county into one feed, specific to Santa Barbara County. One805 Twitter Page @One805sb. “One805 is an extraordinary organization,” said Santa Barbara Sheriff Bill Brown. “Through the selflessness of its members and the generosity of our community, the public safety agencies of Santa Barbara County are obtaining equipment that help us save lives and protect property.”
