Nonprofit Jodi House Brain Injury Support Center will host a Virtual Run, Walk & Roll for Brain Injury on Saturday, May 9.
The event was originally scheduled to be at Chase Palm Park, but event organizers have pivoted to a virtual format that will enable participation in adherence with social distancing guidelines. Individual participants can complete a 1-mile or 5K route of their choosing at any time on Saturday.
By sharing participant’s photos, videos and stories online, the event will continue to raise awareness and funds for Jodi House’s brain injury support program.
“Feelings of social isolation are already a common problem for survivors of brain injury,” said Lindsey Black, executive director of Jodi House. “This makes it even more critical for us to show support and build a sense of community right now. We hope this virtual event will unite us at a time when holding a large group gathering is not possible.”
It is estimated that more than 25,000 residents of Santa Barbara County are directly impacted by a brain injury. Founded in 1982, Jodi House serves as the primary source of support and resources for brain injury survivors and their caregivers in the Santa Barbara community.
Jodi House empowers brain injury survivors to not merely survive, but thrive, by providing classes and services that encourage their physical, cognitive, and behavioral recovery, regardless of the ability to pay. Jodi House is the only nonprofit organization in Santa Barbara County solely dedicated to the continued recovery and ongoing rehabilitation of brain injury survivors.
