Nominations for the Santa Barbara Foundation’s 77th Annual Man & Woman of the Year awards are open and will be accepted through 5 p.m. Friday, July 24. The Man & Woman of the Year awards honor a lifetime of extraordinary service through voluntarism, recognizing those who give of their own time and effort to better the lives of others.
Considered one of the city’s most prestigious awards, the honor recognizes one man and one woman who have made significant and positive impacts on our community through their volunteer efforts.
Nominations will be accepted online at SBFoundation.org/MWAwards. All nominations and supporting materials must be received by the foundation before 5 p.m. July 24.
The Santa Barbara Foundation encourages the nomination of any resident whose service represents a meaningful commitment to the community; addresses a real community need, or enhances the quality of life in Santa Barbara; or has been involved in acts of generosity, kindness or innovation.
A selection committee comprised of past recipients will choose the 77th Man & Woman of the Year in August.
Past recipients of the award, such as 2019 honorees David Boyd and Jelinda DeVorzon, served Santa Barbara and strengthened the community through their leadership, generosity, and volunteer work in support of people in need.
“The Man & Woman of the Year awards is a special event that honors the incredible work of community members who have truly made a difference in our community,” said Santa Barbara Foundation president/CEO Jackie Carrera. ‘While we won’t be gathering in person this year to celebrate these individuals, the Santa Barbara Foundation is excited to continue this tradition with a virtual event this fall.”
The 77th Man and Woman of the Year recipients will be honored at a virtual event on Sept. 2. For more information, call 805 963-1873. For more about Santa Barbara Foundation, visit SBFoundation.org.
