Analise Maggio, Karen Ortiz, and Luz Reyes-Martín have been named to the CALM (Child Abuse Listening Mediation) Board of Trustees. All will be instrumental to CALM and its mission to prevent childhood trauma, heal children and families, and build resilient communities throughout Santa Barbara County.
Maggio, who earned her BA at UCSB, has a professional background in fundraising and business development. Most recently, she co-founded a local nonprofit, duoMORE, delivering food to families in need. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, duoMORE has made some 500 deliveries and more than 4,000 meals to help organization’s like CALM.
Maggio is a board and committee member for various organizations and nonprofits, with a focus on those that help and support children.
Ortiz is a third-generation Santa Barbara native with some 30 years of experience as a volunteer and board member serving nonprofits across Santa Barbara County. She lives in the Lompoc Valley and has been employed with Lompoc Valley Medical Center (LVMC) since 2016 as outreach coordinator, in addition to overseeing the Family Caregiver Support Network.
Ortiz was previously vice president/relationship manager with Santa Barbara Bank and Trust. she has served on the Lompoc Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees since 2007, and as a commissioner on the Human Services Commission for the city of Lompoc.
She is a 2019 graduate of Leading from Within’s leadership program Leading for Community Impact, and serves on multiple committees and councils throughout the county
Ortiz also created and implemented an inclusive and culturally diverse outreach plan for LVMC focused on families, caregiver support, the senior population, Spanish-speaking community, and local nonprofit organizations.
Reyes-Martín is a communications and public affairs professional, and a community advocate.
Reyes-Martín has a bachelor’s degree in political science and Chicano/Chicana studies from Stanford University, and master’s degrees in land use planning and public administration from the University of Southern California. She currently serves as the executive director of Public Affairs and Communications at Santa Barbara City College.
Reyes-Martín serves in several leadership positions including as an elected School Board member of the Goleta Union School District; and as the president of the nonpartisan Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee.
