Chase Hoover and Nicky Fell combined for 12 strikeouts in a 4-0 shutout of Santa Ynez in a Channel League baseball game on Friday.
The Royals improved to 6-1 in Channel League, one game behind unbeaten Santa Barbara. They’re 11-2 overall.
Hoover fanned nine in five innings of work and Fell struck out three in two innings.
Brendon Cekada, Henry Manfredonia, Joaquin Sandoval and Lance Bermudes each drove in runs. Cekada had two hits and Nathan Lynk had a triple.
