Santa Ynez edged Dos Pueblos by the smallest of margins in a Channel League round-robin to settle a three-way tie for second place in league standings on Thursday.

Santa Ynez and Dos Pueblos tied 9-9 and the Pirates prevailed 139-138 in total games. That win gives the Pirates the third-place league spot behind San Marcos and ahead of the fourth-place Chargers.

In the other matches, San Marcos defeated Santa Ynez and Dos Pueblos by identical 11-7 scores.

Santa Barbara finished first in the league season.

“It doesn’t get any closer,” Santa Ynez coach Jennifer Rasmussen said of the razor-thin edge over Dos Pueblos.

Santa Ynez’s Alana Hinkens and Sophia Curti had five wins on the day in doubles, and Tessa Haws and Isabella Curti had four. Singles player Kaitlyn Thompson had three wins for the Pirates.
