The defense took charge for the Dos Pueblos girls lacrosse team in a 10-3 win over San Marcos in a Channel League match on Wednesday at Warkentin Stadium.
Brooke Essig controlled five ground balls and six different DP players snagged interceptions in the win.
Livneh Naaman caused the most turnovers, helped by teammate Kenzie Hemman, said coach Samantha Limkeman. “We held the Royals to very few shots because of our incredible defense.”
San Marcos controlled possession for most of the first half, but struggled to score against DP’s defense. The Chargers led 5-2 at halftime
“This was definitely a game won by our defense,” said Limkeman.
DP’s attack stepped up in the second half.
“The Chargers are often a strong second-half team and they did it again tonight,” said Limkeman.
Avery Ball scored six goals to lead Dos Pueblos, while Chloe Watson had three assists and Autumn Litten two.
The Chargers improved to 5-0 in league and 10-1 overall.
