Dos Pueblos traveled to Mater Dei High School for the Nike Extravaganza Saturday, losing to San Juan Hills 80-49.
Joaquin Riker led the Chargers with 11 points, and freshman call-up Matthew Zamora added 10. Kael Rillie had six assists and two steals. Sophomore Kyle Swieconek added nine points.
Thomas Hatton scored 12 points for San Juan Hills.
“This morning was a tough contest for us,” Dos Pueblos coach Joe Zamora said. “They were bigger and longer than us across the board and they could shoot the ball. We had a sluggish start after the van ride, but the guys had a better second quarter.
“We did a good job against their press and zone, but we had a hard time matching up with their size. I was proud of all of the guys for competing and getting after it at this prestigious event. It was a great experience for all our players.”
The Chargers, 1-9 overall and 1-7 in Channel League play, finish the season in the coming week against Lompoc and San Marcos.
