Westmont’s Cade Pierson caps off her Westmont career by being named to the NAIA All-American Second Team for the second time in her collegiate career. Pierson was also named a Second Team All-American in 2019.

In 2021 Pierson served as Westmont’s captain. She went 5-2 in singles play against GSAC opponents this season, and teamed up with Rachal Jackson in doubles play where the two found success. Pierson’s final victory for the Warriors came with Jackson in a doubles victory against Arizona Christian in the GSAC Quarterfinals.

“Cade is very deserving of this honor,” said Westmont’s head coach Ellie Johnson. “Her work ethic is unmatched and her drive to be the best she can be has gotten her to where she is.”

The Santa Barbara High alum received All-GSAC honors this season as well, for the fourth time in Westmont career. Pierson’s well-decorated Westmont resume began when she won GSAC Newcomer of The Year award back in 2017. Pierson is the only athlete in program history to have won Newcomer of the Year.

In consecutive seasons in 2019 and 2020, Pierson was also named an ITA All-American in singles play, as well as being named ITA NAIA West Region Senior Player of the Year in 2020. Pierson’s 2020 campaign was highlighted for her leadership ability as well, as she became the first Warrior to be awarded the ITA NAIA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award. She was also a recipient of the Golden State Athletic Conference’s Cliff Hamlow Champion of Character Award.

Johnson spoke proudly of Pierson’s accomplishments, saying, “Cade had such a strong impact, and not just on Westmont’s tennis program, but on the GSAC and NAIA level as a whole.”

Pierson becomes only the eighth member in Westmont Women’s Tennis history to receive All-American honors on multiple occasions, and the first since 2016.
