The San Marcos girls finished 23rd in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 Swimming & Diving Championship Finals at Santa Margarita High School on Thursday.
Among Royals competitors, Holland Woodhouse placed 11th overall in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.32, and Zosia Amberger finished 13th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.89.
San Marcos also swam the 200 freestyle relay, placing 14th with a time of 1:40.21. The team consisted of Elaia Hamilton, Woodouse, Amberger and Sophia Panossian.
“It was really awesome to watch my swimmers compete,” San Marcos coach Chuckie Roth said. “Everybody dropped time. Having two alternate relays helped fuel our fire for our upcoming seasons.”
The meet was the culmination of a year’s hard work and dedication across all levels of the school’s aquatics program, Roth said.
“Even though not all of our swimmers were at the meet, they helped inspire this group on a daily basis to get us where we are today,” he said.
