Lorena Granados Martinez was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, to Soledad Barajas and Fidel Martinez on Dec. 23, 1969, and peacefully passed away at Serenity House in Santa Barbara, California on July 20, 2021, surrounded by endless love.
She came to Carpinteria in 1987 as a newlywed and never left.
Lorena worked for Deckers Outdoor Corporation for more than 25 years, where she started as a seamstress and worked her way up to supervising quality assurance. During her time at Deckers, she enjoyed traveling to many countries including Canada, El Salvador, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Mexico.
Her passions in life were her family, dancing, cooking, traveling and gardening. Lorena brought so much joy to everyone she met; she was always smiling and always willing to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family the most, where there was always continuous love and laughter.
Lorena battled cancer bravely, never showed any fear, and fully entrusted her heart in the hands of God. We find peace in knowing she is free of any pain or suffering, and that she has danced her way into heaven. We were so fortunate to have her in our lives, and we know a life without her will not be easy.
Lorena is survived by her husband Juan Granados, daughter Alejandra Lad, son-in-law Dharmesh Lad, son Juan Daniel Granados and his partner Ariana Ornelas, numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Angelina Martinez.
A Rosary vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Saint Joseph’s Church in Carpinteria. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3. All who knew and loved Lorena are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life immediately following the funeral mass at Lion’s Park in Carpinteria.
We want to thank our family and friends for your everlasting love and support.
Honoring her wishes, her body will be cremated at a private ceremony for immediate family.
Arrangements by McDermott-Crockett Mortuary.
