Nina Johnson, longtime senior assistant to the Santa Barbara City Administrator, shocked insiders recently when she announced that she was running for City Council in District 6.
Johnson worked for nearly 25 years at Santa Barbara City Hall.
She has jumped into the race, she said, because she loves the city and believes she has the experience and connections to help lead the efforts to transform State Street and the downtown.
Johnson also says her connections to the business, tech and architectural communities will allow her be more effective at Santa Barbara City Hall.
“Many people want to see a new style of doing things, so they appreciate what I bring,” Johnson said.
